Students at Jarrow School had the fantastic opportunity on Monday to take part in an organised workshop ran by The Beach School Project - a voluntary English education project based on the island of Sal in Cape Verde.
The project works, with the support of the municipal government in Sal, to deliver programs of teaching to vulnerable children.
The students collaboratively created a children's story that will be sent to Cape Verde so that the project team can explore language with the students, as well as offering UK students the opportunity to develop skills in crafting of language, but also to explore issues of cultural and social diversity.
Ben Watson, project lead, said, "Working with the Year 7 students at Jarrow School was a wonderful experience. The enthusiasm and creativity with which students approached activities across the day impressed all of those working with the project."
Well done 7 Mercury!
